Job Description

We are looking for a well-experienced Convention and Special Events Planner to work for Sula Indian Restaurant Commercial Drive, 1128 Commercial Drive, Vancouver, BC, V5L 3X2, Canada.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan, organize, and deliver conventions, corporate events, private functions, weddings, and large group dining experiences hosted at or catered by the restaurant.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for corporate clients, event organizers, and sponsors, guiding them through event scope, format, timelines, and service expectations.
  • Lead end-to-end event planning activities, including concept development, scheduling, logistics coordination, and on-site execution.
  • Develop and manage event budgets by estimating costs, monitoring expenditures, approving invoices, and ensuring profitability targets are achieved.
  • Coordinate all event-related services such as catering menus, room layouts, décor, signage, audio-visual requirements, staffing levels, and special guest accommodations.
  • Work closely with culinary, service, and management teams to align menu offerings, service flow, and staffing plans with event objectives.
  • Organize registration processes, seating plans, event programs, and promotional materials in collaboration with clients and internal teams.
  • Negotiate contracts and service agreements with external vendors, suppliers, entertainers, and service providers, ensuring cost control and service quality.
  • Ensure full compliance with municipal by-laws, licensing requirements, occupancy limits, and safety regulations for all events.
  • Recruit, schedule, train, and supervise temporary or event-specific staff to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Oversee event setup, execution, and breakdown, resolving issues in real time to protect guest satisfaction and event timelines.

 

Prerequisites:

Education: Secondary (High) school graduation certificate or equivalent.

Experience & Skills: 5 years or more in relevant fields.

Language: English

Hourly Rate: $36.60 to $38.00 for 30 to 40 Hours per week

Starting Date: As soon as possible

Terms of Employment: Fulltime and permanent
